Here we are on the brink of the third trimester. Some apps are telling me it’s actually already here, but no one seems to agree on anything pregnancy. Either way, somehow we’re in the last three months and a baby will be here come summer. Impossible! I’m grateful for so many things this time around including a healthy appetite. Had I been a food content creator last time around I truly do not know how I would have managed. Good for both of us, this crispy charred harissa honey roast chicken was born out of a craving for something to eat alongside couscous and has been a favorite for us at home since.

Best part is it’s so simple. I love any recipe I can prep the night before and throw in the oven the day of but if that’s not your style you can also do it all day of. I’ve included the recipe at the bottom of this post, but first some long overdue newsletter round up updates.

What I’m Eating

I made a loaf of brown bread for Saint Patrick’s Day and since then, have not been able to stop making it. The flavor is unparalleled as it’s packed with wheat flour but mostly it is so simple. You can easily throw together the loaf in the morning for breakfast. My favorite way to enjoy is as a “grand slam” - something I did not invent but have made nearly a million of.

If you’re in the bay area you can grab the original at Andytown and I assure you it will blow your mind. If you’re not, I used the recipe for brown bread from Richard Hart’s new Bread Book . Once baked, you slather the slices in butter and jam then top with white cheddar (the sharper the better) and bacon. Beware, the addiction is easy to come by.

What I’m Wearing

I don’t normally wear brow product as I dye my brows but I’ve recently discovered this brow “pen” by Valentino and wow is it a perfect product. Not only is the packaging stunning, the Taupe color is phenomenal. Definitely the best brow color I’ve found yet. I’ve started using it not for daily wear but when I go out to dinner & such and I won’t turn back. Definitely a bookmark for the Sephora sale coming next week.

I’ve gotten a lot of love for these pants each time I’ve worn them (which has been a lot because the drawstring/elastic band is insanely comfortable for a pregnant belly). My favorite part of them, though, is that they have hidden snaps on the bottom inside at different lengths allowing you to essentially hem them up off the ground but maintain a perfect slouchy baggy look. It’s perfect for rainy season. They also happen to be on sale now which is bad for me, but lucky for you. You can find them here.

What Alden’s Loving

These flat Hotwheels tracks have moved to the number one toy position in our house. Alden’s had a myriad of “fancy” hotwheels tracks with motors and such for various holidays as gifts but it seems all he really ever wanted was a cool simple track he can push his car around himself. It’s perfect & substantially cheaper / allows for more creativity of builds. Highy recommend.

Where I’m Headed

We’re headed back to Mexico City early next month and we couldn’t be more excited. I absolutely fell in love with the city when we went last year. It’s the kind of city you know while you’re there that you need to come back. It’s so vibrant, artsy, stunning and multicultural. Going out there feels to me like studying abroad. So many young people from all over the world coming together and just enjoying life. Not to mention, the food. We’ll be there for a wedding this time around, but you know we’ll squeeze in time for tacos.

@alihooketo be ABUNDANTLY clear, this is what we ate when we werent eating our other meals. Theres always room for tacos absolutely dont miss Maizajo for the suadero and El Vilsito for the Al Pastor #streettacos #cdmx #alpastor #mexicocity
