This is my final real time newsletter before signing off for maternity leave. Which is exciting for all - it means bonding time as a family for me and WEEKLY amazing recipe drops for you!
There’s a lot of content out there telling you what you absolutely NEED for the hospital and what to leave behind. I see a lot of eye rolling about over packing and “the hospital has everything you need” these days. I’m not here to tell you what to bring or what not to bring, I’m just here to offer this: pack whatever you want. You’re the one about to deliver a whole human, pack whatever brings you the most comfort. Labor is hard and often stays are long, if you want to have three suitcases of stuff - have three suitcases of stuff! If you want to roll up with just your pajamas on, do that! This is your delivery, don’t let anyone tell you what the right way is.
When I gave birth to Alden, I packed quite a bit. I had spent many many hours consuming “what’s in my hospital bag” videos and reading list after list on blogs to compile a packing list. l used almost none of it. And you know what? I’m still so glad I had all of it. I am packing things I didn’t even touch last time once more. Every baby is different, every pregnancy is different and every delivery is different. I don’t know what I will want or how it will go. I do know that for me, being prepared alleviates anxiety and brings me peace.
So ultimately, my non advise advise is - you know you best. Do you.
That said, I found all the lists and videos incredibly helpful so if you want it, I leave you with what I packed for baby number two.
HOSPITAL BAG FOR MOM
HOSPITAL BAG OF BABY
As a reminder, starting in July, paid subscribers will be getting one recipe drop a week (double my standard drops!). Each month will have a different theme - all voted on by my IG audience.
Month 1: Freezer meals
Month 2: High Protein & Delicious
Month 3: Easy Weeknight Dinners
Month 4: Breakfast, Breakfast, Breakfast
Every month one of the recipes will be an Indian recipe - as I get asked for this quite a bit! It’s been a massive labor of love putting together all these recipes for you guys and I’m honestly so excited for them to start releasing. During the four months, you may or may not find me on other socials. I plan to not plan to post and will occasionally show up if I’m feeling rested and excited.
While my newsletters over the next four months are locked and loaded and pre written - I may pop in with occasional updates from time to time. If not, I’ll see you in four months after you’ve been fully stuffed of fantastic recipes.
With so much love and thanks in advance for supporting me while we adjust to a new family member,
Ali
